“I am interested in deconstructing what we observe to better understand how we perceive. We live in a world saturated with visual representation, media bombardment, and fast-paced, busy environments. The majority of these stimuli are visual, omnipresent and integrated into daily life. To cope with the ever-increasing influx of visual information, we tend to recognize, identify, and label. We also tend to take everything in as a whole. This strategy, if effective, helps prevent sensory overload in an already overwhelming world, and we do it automatically. However, this automaticity comes at a cost. We are likely missing details and, more importantly, losing our autonomy over how and what we see.”
